Dr. Hartert received an undergraduate degree from University of Virginia (Richmond, VA) and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia (Richmond, VA). He completed residency in OB/GYN at University of Florida Jacksonville Health Education Program (Jacksonville, FL), and began private practice in 1986.  He joined North Florida OB/GYN in 2000.

His practice is limited to Gynecology. He has a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery, including Robotics.

He and his wife, Debbie, have two daughters, Ashley and Courtney. Dr. Hartert is an avid football fan, who supports both University of Virginia and University of Florida.
